Keeping Thin through Turkey Day
I don't care what anyone says, NO ONE - and I mean NO ONE sane will ever eat carrot sticks before heading to a buffet filled with pies, gravy, mashed potatoes and more.... But - nobody wants to put on the pounds from overeating fatty foods....
This newsletter deals with some fun activities that can actually work off some of that extra eating and drinking.
One great thing to do is to get outside and rake leaves! Kids, especially, love this activity. It keeps them busy and out of trouble at the same time that you can continue to burn calories.
Then - when you're done raking the leaves and the kids are done jumping in them - make your own scarecrow. Get some old clothes that can be thrown away later and start stuffing!
Play football! Before, during halftime and after the games on the tube, get your own football and join the game - literally. Create your own team or just pass back and forth with someone else.
Go pick some apples or go on a hunt for leaves, seeds, acorns and other materials that can be used for kids crafts. You can make an apple pie, rub leaves, create necklaces from the seeds or noisemakers (for the football game) from the acorns.
The basic thought is to enjoy the holidays - enjoy your families, but stay active and keep the weight off.
