Healthy Food Tips
Oils
Are there healthy oils we can use in our cooking? The answer is yes. But – to be sure, the healthiest way to cook with oil is to use all in moderation!
The healthiest oils are those that are naturally made from fruits or vegetables and do not involve chemicals or the dreaded trans-fats.
Just keep the use of oils to a minimum and select the healthiest, most natural oils for cooking.
Grains
Buy a loaf of whole grain bread and you’ll be eating something very healthy, right?
The answer is NO. Check out the ingredient list first and you may be surprised to see trans-fats and high fructose corn syrup listed. These are highly processed ingredients that have been proven to be harmful to our health and interfere with our natural digestion.
Check the labels before assuming something is a health food.
Labels
Just like purchasing bread, it’s important to always check the labels of the foods you purchase.
Something may appear to be healthy, but may in fact contain all kinds of unhealthy ingredients. If a food item contains high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup solids, and hydrogenated fats.
These ingredients have zero nutritional value. In addition, many have proven to be so harmful that entire cities have banned them
